The start is common with UTAT: same place, same time and same route for 20 km. The Atlas Marathon is the first test of the Atlas Challenge.

The night still reigns on the set of Oukaïmeden. In an atmosphere of fire, the departure of the UTAT 105 is given. Chills run on the skin, the front draw a serpent of light in the darkness.

After a few miles of a rising track (450 m D +), you reach a ridge where the dawn is a marvel. A descent leads you in a valley where the river Ourika rises and announces the Berber country. The first village, Agouns, is achieved through a winding, hilly course and then designed the first PC Timichi (20th km).

A small rise in laces, a bit steep for a few hundred meters you leads to a shoulder when you see a new valley. A wide and rolling trail leads you to the beautiful village of Iabassène. Soon, a steep path makes you overlook the douar and offers a magnificent panorama.

After rounding the eastern edge of the Adrar Tissi (March 1278 m), you begin the 800 m positive that separate you from the colossal Tizi n’Tacheddirt (3230 m). The trail goes from one side to the other a beautiful river, and more than once, you believe see the end of your sentences, up there … But the neck is still far!

After a tiring climb, you finally reach the Tizi n’Tacheddirt where a doctor will monitor your fitness. 6 km further down, emerge Tacheddirt and providential supplies.

After saving a break, the route no longer provided 600m elevation gain. 600 m, which will require the mobilization of all your physical and mental resources …

Surprisingly, the rise puts you in constant contact with the solid rock of Jebel Anggour (3614 m). As rough as sumptuous, this final climb offers small spaces where you can make a brief stop, time to regain a semblance of breath.

Reached the Tizi Addi (2960 m), you can let yourself slide 6 km to the bottom of a valley. One last effort and ephemeral village in UTAT appear on the board. Do not sprint too … rather savor every stride!
