ARTICLE 1 – THE EVENT
The Sports Nature Développement Association organizes the 12th edition of the Ultra Trail Atlas Toubkal from October 1st to 5th 2020, with the support of the Moroccan Government (Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Youth and Sports), the Royal Moroccan Federation of ski and mountain sports, the Province of Al Haouz, the resort Oukaïmeden and all the communes the race crosses (Timicchi, Imlil, Tachhedirt, etc.).
The event offers different races, each on a different distance: 12km (Amazigh Trail), 26 km (La Virée d’Ikiss), 42 km (Marathon de l’Atlas), 105 km (Ultra Trail Atlas Toubka) and the Challenge du Haut Atlas stretching over 2 days (42 + 26 km), all in a variety of terrains. The start and the finish of all 4 races are in the center of the ski resort Oukaïmeden at altitude of 2620 m.
ARTICLE 2 – REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
To participate a racer must comply to the following points:
Law 99-223 of 23/3/99: Participation in sports competitions organized or approved by sports federations is subject to the submission of a sports license attesting the issue of a medical certificate mentioning the ” Absence of contra-indication to the practice of racing, or, for non-licensees to whom these competitions are open, the presentation of this single certificate or a certified copy thereof, which must be less than one year old.

ARTICLE 3 – ADMINISTRATIVE CHECKS / DISTRIBUTION OF BIB NUMBERS
The distribution of bib-numbers is done in Oukaïmeden, as follows:
The bib number must be worn on your chest or in your back and be perfectly visible when racing. Failing to apply this rule is liable to disqualification.
The bib-numbers can only be retrieved within the above schedules.
A bib-number can only be retrieved by the racer his/herself, upon presentation of a valid ID and following the verification of his/her mandatory equipment (see ARTICLE 8).
Under specific circumstances a competitor may ask a third party to retrieve his/her bib-number. To do this the third party need to be in possession of the following:
ARTICLE 4 – ENTRY
Registration is firm and final.
If you have subscribed to the cancellation guarantee, you may claim your right to reimbursement according to the conditions listed in Article 5.
For legal, logistical and security reasons, your participation in the UTAT is subject to the transmission of the following information and documents:
It is compulsory to transfer these documents and the information using the on-line registration form.
If you cannot use the online tools to complete the registration, please contact the organization and we will find the appropriate solution for you.
The deadline for receiving this information, thus completing your registration, is September 15th, 2020.
After this deadline all incomplete registrations are cancelled, and a participation at the UTAT 2020 is no longer possible and there will be no refund.

After September 15th changing your registration from one race to another is possible providing the logistical issues for the organization are solved, and only under the following conditions:
ARTICLE 5 – INSURANCE - CANCELLATION GUARANTEE - WITHDRAWAL
Civil Liability: In accordance with the law, the organizers have taken out an insurance covering the consequences of their civil liability, that of their employees and all the participants of the Ultra Trail Atlas Toubkal.
The competitors participate under their own responsibility in case of an accident or failure due to their health conditions.
Each competitor must be in possession of an individual accident insurance covering search and rescue costs and hospitalization in Morocco, as well as a repatriation to his/her country of residence.

This insurance covers most outdoor activities for a period of one year and without geographical restrictions.
Europe Assistance, Mondial Assistance and other companies offer similar insurance.
If the participant cannot prove that he/she holds such an insurance, the organization requires the participant to take out one of the following insurances:
The guarantee covers the reimbursement of the costs incurred for the registration (UTAT bib fee, price excluding payment and registration fees), to one of the five races, the cancellation is possible under the following circumstances:
– accident, serious illness or death
– a serious illness requiring hospitalization – the death of a spouse or common-law partner, direct ascendant or descendant, within 30 days of the event.
In the case of an accident and/or a serious illness the participant must supply a medical certificate signed and stamped by a doctor and attesting the contra-indication of a participation in the race. Other causes for a cancellation must be supported by a document issued by the competent authority.
Conditions for a reimbursement: any request for reimbursement must reach us, accompanied by the medical certificate, at the latest within 10 days following the event. Applications are processed within two months following the receipt of the declaration.
Cancellation of an entry
The cancellation of an entry must be made by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by post (Association Sports Nature Development – Chez Sci Avenue – 11 Avenue Jean Médecin- 06380 Sospel – France).
In case of cancellation for a cause described in the first paragraph of the article, the competitor can operate his/her cancellation guarantee by sending us his/her cancellation letter and the necessary supporting document (see first paragraph of the article).
If a competitor who has subscribed the cancellation insurance, wish to cancel his/her registration for a cause covered by this guarantee and declared in advance of the 30 days preceding the event, the refund of the fees paid for registration will be made by a total re-credit of the payment (Excluding payment fees by bank card or check) to the bank account associated with the bank card used or the check issued at the time of registration.
Right to retract
The Sports Nature Development Association, organizer of UTAT, is subject to French consumer law.
In accordance with Article L.121-17 and L.121-21-8 of the Consumer Code, the right to retract gives the consumer a 14-day withdrawal period in the event of a change of mind when purchasing over the internet or by telephone is not opposable in the context of a registration with the UTAT.
The Consumer Code indicates that the right of withdrawal cannot be exercised for leisure activity contracts when the consumer is informed.
Article 6 : NATIONAL RESIDENTS
In order to facilitate the participation of national residents, the organization offers 4 types of entries reserved exclusively for people living in Morocco and able to formally justify this. These offers only apply to the Marathon de l’Atlas, the Virée d’Ikkiss and the Amarzigh Trail events are held respectively on October the 3rd and 4th, 2020.
Definition of “National Residents”:
The term “national resident” means any person, irrespective of his/her nationality, who resides in Morocco and hold a National Identity Card (CIN) or a residence permit “Carte d’immatriculation” valid on the day of registration. If the mentioned documents are being processed, a receipt issued by the competent authorities is accepted as proof of residence.
No other document (invoice, title deed …) will be accepted as proof of residence.
Proof of residence in Morocco must be provided and uploaded online with your registration file at the latest by September 27th, ,2020. If you register after September 15th, your bib-number will only hold your number.
In the absence of supporting documents, the registration will be cancelled without reimbursement, and may not be transferred to a future edition of the event.
Conditions for participation:
A certificate dated the current year and mentioning there are no contra-indications to the practice of running in a competition or a valid license FRMA, have to be provided (you may use the specific certificate provided by the UTAT). The transmission of the medical certificate or the FRMA license is compulsory at the time of the electronic registration and the presentation of the original of the document is mandatory when you retrieve your bib-number on site.
ARTICLE 7 – AID STATIONS
The basic rule for this individual race is semi-self-sufficiency. Aid stations offer drinks and food to be consumed on site.
Supplies may only be given by the organization at an aid station. Respect the environment and throw your waste in the bins provided at the aid stations, never on the trails. An infringement to this rule may lead to a disqualification.
ARTICLE 8 – MANDATORY EQUIPMENT : 12, 26, 42,105 KM
A semi-self-sufficiency race.
Mandatory gear for UTAT 105 km:
The competitor should make sure the qualities of his/her jacket meets the requirements of the regulations. In case of a control, only the opinion of the controller or the race marshal is considered.
PLEASE NOTE: the list of mandatory gear can be subject to changes due to unexpected weather conditions.
Mandatory gear Atlas Marathon 42 km:

Additional gear highly recommended for all 3 events (105-42-26km):

A complete gear check will be done on the course and/or at the finish for the first 3 racers of each event and randomly amongst the other racers. A breach of these rules will result in a penalty (see ARTICLE 17).
ARTICLE 9 – LOGISTICS
The competitors in the UTAT 105 km may leave a bag with their spare clothes in the departure area, with their name and their bib number on the bag This bag will be sent to the Aid Station in Imlil (2/3 of the race). The bag will then be returned to Oukaïmeden at the end of the race. You cannot put poles in your bag. The organization declines all responsibility in case of loss, theft or deterioration of the gear/material left in your bag.
The schedule for dropping & picking up bags will be posted at the distribution of the bib numbers.
ARTICLE 10 – RANKING AND PRIZES
Racers must show up at the designated area behind the start 20 minutes before the departure of their race. This area close 5 minutes before the departure, if a competitor fails to check-in at the entrance of this space, he/she will not be ranked.
All runners on the 42km will be ranked, whether they are registered on the Marathon de l’Atlas or the Challenge du Haut Atlas.
All runners on the 26km will be ranked, whether they are registered on La Virée d’Ikkiss or the Challenge du Haut Atlas.
The Challenge is a separate ranking.

Prizes will be given to the first 3 scratch and the first 3 women.
Runners can be rewarded only for the competition they are registered for: A runner registered on Le Challenge du Haut Atlas will not be rewarded neither on Le Marathon de l’Atlas nor on La Virée d’Ikkis.
ARTICLE 11 – CHECK POINTS
For security reasons there are several Check Points (CP’s) along each race itinerary.
Each CP has one or several race marshals to carry out the controls. The race marshals are under the authority of the Race director, whose decisions are binding.
Each competitor must make sure he/she has checked-in at all CP’s, failing to do so will lead to a penalty (see Art. 17).
ARTICLE 12 – CLAIMS
Complaints must be filed in writing, within 2 hours after the racer has passed the finish line. They should be handed to the race management, at the ‘INFO POINT’ in the race village, together with a deposit of 40 €. If the complaint receives a favourable outcome the 40€ will be given back to you.
ARTICLE 13 – MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND SAFETY
A medical team with doctors, nurses and first-aid workers are present throughout the event, and will be posted on several CP’s along the race route. The competitors authorize the medical staff to take the necessary measures in the event of an accident. The medical staff may disqualify a competitor if they consider the competitor unfit to pursue the race, or if he/she may endanger other competitors or him/herself. In case of a withdrawal, the competitor must inform the closest CP or Aid Station of his/her decision and hand in his/her bib-number. The competitor is then authorized to leave the race by his/her own means and under his/her own responsibility. However, the organization can help the competitor and take him/her back to the finish line.
The Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie, the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and the Auxiliary Forces will be present on the course and in the starting area.
Physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropodists are present in the departure/arrival area and along the course, for first-aid care. Access to these services is courtesy of the therapists, based on the type of care needed and the urgency.
ARTICLE 14 – IMAGE RIGHTS
Different media is covering the event: television, radio, local, national and international press. The competitors authorize the media accredited at the event and the organization to use their image, from photos or filming, in all types of media to promote the event, and this without compensation of any kind.
However, a racer may assert his/her right to the protection of their private life, by requesting an exclusion from this clause. To do so, it is necessary to fill in the appropriate form at the “info point” located in the race village, before the start of the race,
ARTICLE 15 – REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
All registrations must be made online.
For Moroccan residents there is however the possibility (according to availability) to register for the 26k and the 12k at the race base camp, following the schedule for the bib distribution for each of these races (Art. 3).

ARTICLE 16 – TIME LIMITS
The time limits for each race and for their different sections are the following:
UTAT 105 km: 40 hours
Time limits for each section:
The Marathon de l’Atlas (42 km): 12 hours
Time limits for each section:
The Virée d’Ikkiss (26 km): 7 hours
Time limit at: Amskere/Amssakrou: Departure time + 5 hrs
Amazigh Trail (12 km): 5 hours (the event is open to hikers)
Maximal departure time from the main CP’s can be found in your Roadbook, is posted at each of these CP’s and will be given at the race briefing.
The time limits are calculated to allow the participants to finish within the maximum time given, and includes time for stops (rest, meals, care). It is mandatory to leave a CP/Aid Station before the time limit (regardless of arrival time) to stay in the race.
A disqualified competitor may continue on the race itinerary after having handed-in his/her bib-number and will do so under his own responsibility and in total self-sufficiency.
Due to weather conditions or for safety issues, the organization may decide to cancel, change or stop a race or to modify the time-limits.
ARTICLE 17 – PENALTIES
All competitors who enter the race acknowledge these rules and accept all the paragraphs. He/she commits fully to not start before the departure and to complete the race following the indicated itinerary.
Please find below the penalties incurred for different infringements:
A 20 minutes penalty:
The organizers kindly remind the competitors to respect the environment, the volunteers and the local population, especially their customs and traditions.
ARTICLE 18 – PROHIBITED
Any exterior help outside the Aid Stations, save a specific permission from the marshal in charge, is prohibited.
The use of bicycles, mules, or any type of motorized or non-motorized vehicles is prohibited during the race.
For the duration of the event and at the UTAT bivouac, the organization provides free mineral water via our partner Sté Minérales des Eaux d’Oulmès, and its brand Ain Atlas.
Each competitor will receive their personal stock of water bottles on arrival. During the duration of the event all participants at the UTAT can receive free water according to the following principle: swap an empty bottle for a full. Process: bring your empty bottle to the Info Point at the camp and you’ll be given a full bottle in exchange.
Save for medical reasons, duly notified, drinking mineral water from another brand is prohibited at the race camp and may lead to penalty (Art. 17).
ARTICLE 19 – RACE TIMING
Timing will be made using a timing software. The competitors must make sure they have been clocked-in (manually or passing the electronic gate) at each CP (checkpoint).
ARTICLE 20 – CANCELLATION
The organization has the right to cancel the race, in case of a force majeure, or if a minimum of 500 participants are not registered by July 31, 2020.
ARTICLE 21 – REPLACEMENT ITINERARY
The organization will make all possible efforts to find a replacement itinerary in the event of a force majeure on the original itinerary, dangerous and uncertain weather forecast or any other reason preventing the organization of the race under secure conditions and with the support of the local authorities.
ARTICLE 22 - GENERAL DATA PROTECTION – GDPR
The organization commit to using the participants personal data for purposes strictly related to the competition where he/she is registered (pre and post event), and those related to promotion and information directly related to the UTAT in general.
When you register using the on-line tool Njuko©, there is an option you may select which allows a participant to request his/her personal data to remain anonymous. The option may be selected at any time. Once this option is selected all personal data will be deleted 60 days after the event and is no longer accessible to the organizers. The fields deleted will appear as “xxxx”, on the Njuko© platform.
ARTICLE 23 – ACCEPTING THE RULES
Any competitor acknowledges having read these rules and accepting all the clauses. He/she commits him/herself on the honor not to anticipate the departure and to travel the complete distance before crossing the finish line.
