UTAT 105km

The night still reigns on the set of Oukaïmeden. In an atmosphere of fire, the departure of the UTAT 105 is given. Chills run on the skin, the front draw a serpent of light in the darkness.

After a few miles of a rising track (450 m D +), you reach a ridge where the dawn is a marvel. A descent leads you in a valley where the river Ourika rises and announces the Berber country. The first village, Agouns, is achieved through a winding, hilly course and then draws the second PC Timichi (20ekm).

Then you cross a succession of picturesque villages to reach the first stop in a place called Setti Fatma (PC3 30.5 km) before fording the river Ourika. This is when you dive into one of the most magical spaces and the most challenging. 40 km of paths away from any track and in any way. The ascent is steep Tamatert and continues until the second pass of the route.

After a short descent to azib Assaka, you can climb to the Col Amenzel of the eponymous village, the most remote of the High Atlas, but teeming with life! A portion in the valley takes you to the foot of Oumchichka neck you reach a trail drawn in a scree. The effort is terrible ... but, at the top, another valley appears. The descent offers dazzling views.

At azib Likemt, a supply and an advanced medical post let you do a saving halt. After a break, we must tackle the ascent of Tizi n'Tifourhate and then a short descent that leads you to the foot of a giant: Tizi n'Tarharate (3456 m). For most competitors, the climb is done by night, at the cost of immense physical and mental effort.

In this demanding climb that will lead you to the highest point of the course Tizi Tichki (3550 m), succeeds an impressive technical descent (1200 m vertical drop for 4 negative linear km!) And a wide path leads to the circus of Around and first homes. After crossing a river, you head to Imlil where a supply consists of harira soup, pasta and mint tea is literally angel! A quick review of the medical staff, a possible break to sleep or regain strength after 88.5 km of effort, then back to business: the path along the river bottom to rise up before the valley penultimate pass (2200 m).

New downhill, new village, new valley. Then a small rise through the walnut trees and in the streets of Amskere you to the latest PC and the ultimate difficulty climbing to Oukaïmeden. The change in atmosphere is total: the red earth contrasts with the bright green of thuriferous junipers. Step by step, along a merciless last ascent, you finally reach the Tizi Oukaïmeden, where Moroccan flags flapping in the wind. From there, you see the village of UTAT. Tip: Delicious wake of this final descent mile before you get overwhelmed by emotion when you cross the finish line.

The test is run in semi self-sufficiency.

MATERIALS REQUIRED UTAT 105 KM

• personal cup 15cl minimum
• minimum 2 liters water reserve
• two lamps in good working condition with sufficient energy reserves,
• survival blanket 1,40m x 2m minimum
• whistle
• aid kit: antidiarrheal, acetaminophen (2 g), antiseptic, compresses, adhesive elastic band to make a bandage or straping (mini 80cm x 3cm) tablets for chemical decontamination and disinfection of water (Micropur , Aquatabs, Hydroclonazone)
• food reserve (minimum 3,000 kcal)
• waterproof jacket and pants (Gore-Tex type) for supporting the bad
• weather in the mountains,
• jacket or shirt arctic (second layer) with long sleeves,
• matches or lighter in working order,
• the road book of the race,
• hat, cap or bandana

Very highly recommended :

• mobile phone with option enabling its use in Morocco (put it in his repertoire the security numbers of the organization, does not hide its number and do not forget to leave with charged batteries)
• jacket and hot pants "techniques", long gloves, to withstand the potentially altitude cold temperatures at night
• a minimum amount of 300 dirhams (approx € 30 - to overcome contingencies). .

Full equipment will be checked on the course and / or arriving for the first 3 in each event and randomly for other riders. Failure will result in a penalty.

Participate in the TAU is diving into majestic landscapes and unique atmosphere. It is also going to meet very technical terrain.
