- Support for the people encountered: the race is also organized for the sake of solidarity with the people of the High Atlas. This invites to relativize his own suffering.
2019 RULES
for L’UTAT 105 / MARATHON DE L’ATLAS / LA VIRÉE D’IKKISS / AMAZIGH TRAIL
ARTICLE 1 – THE EVENT
The Sports Nature Développement Association is organizing the 11th edition of the Ultra Trail Atlas Toubkal from 2019 October the 3rd to October the 7th with the support of the Moroccan Government (Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Youth and Sports), the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sport for All, the Province of Al Haouz, the Oukaïmeden station and all the towns crossed (Timicchi, Imlil, Tachhedirt, etc.).
This event is open to riders over several possible distances of circa 12km (Amazigh Trail), 26 km (La Virée d’Ikiss), 42 km (Marathon de l’Atlas), 105 km (Ultra Trail Atlas Toubka) or the Challenge du Haut Atlas over 2 days (42 + 26 km), in varied terrains. The start as well as the finish of the 4 courses will at the center of the ski resort of Oukaïmeden at 2620 m altitude.
ARTICLE 2 – REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
The conditions to be fulfilled are:
- Being over 18 year old
- For non-licensees: having a medical certificate of no contraindication to the practice of running in competition dated the current year (less than one year on the day of the event). For the participants of the UTAT 105 km, only the medical certificate specific to our event (to be downloaded from the site) is accepted. It is mandatory to provide the medical certificate for the electronic registration and the presentation of the original document is mandatory at bib delivery. The organization keeps the medical certificates in its possession for one year. (According to Law 99-223 of 23/3/99: Participation in sports competitions organized or approved by sports federations is subject to the submission of a sports license attesting the issue of a medical certificate mentioning the ” Absence of contraindication to the practice of racing, or, for non-licensees to whom these competitions are open, the presentation of this single certificate or a certified copy thereof, which must be less than one year old).
Participation in the UTAT 105 km is subject to the previous completion of a race run in 2018 or 2019 and matching one of the following requirements:
- race ranked with at least 4 ITRA points
or
- ≥60km – ≥3000mD+
To enable the validation of your file and the final registration (materialized by the delivery of your bib), it is necessary to provide us with the hypertext link of your ranking (which you will find in the official website of this reference race), as well as to indicate the name and date of the race corresponding to the above described prerequisite, as well as your rank, when registering by electronic form or with Vo2max Voyages, or by 15/09/2019 at the latest
The registration fee is
- 350€ until 31/12/2019,
- then 390€ until 30/06/2019
- and then 420€ until 15/09/2019.
It includes
- the shuttle buses between Marrakech and Oukaïmeden on 2019 October the 3rd, 4th and 8th, (schedules will appear in the electronic registration form)
- the tent (16 m2) accomodation (4 or 5 pax)
- diners from October the 3th to October the 6th
- Breakfasts from October the 4th to October the 7th
- bib and race logistics
- entertainments (conferences, visits: cave engravings, Berber village …)

ARTICLE 3 – BIB DELIVERY
The bibs will be delivered at the Oukaïmeden station
on Tuesday October the 3rd from 14:00 to 20:00
on Friday October the 4th from 9:00 to 17:00
on Saturday October the 5th from 14:00 to 18:00, only for national residents (see article 6) registered on the 26km or the 12km.
on Sunday October the 6th from 7:00 to 8:00, only for national residents (see article 6) registered on the 26km, and from 7:00 to 9:00 for national residents (see article 6) registered on the 12km.
The bib must be worn in front and be perfectly readable all along the race. In the contrary case the rider is liable to disqualification.
ARTICLE 4 – ENGAGEMENT
Registration is firm and final.
If you have subscribed to the cancellation guarantee, you can assert your right to reimbursement according to the conditions listed in article 5 of the present regulations.
However, for legal, logistical and security reasons, your participation in the UTAT is subject to the transmission of the following information and elements:
▪ medical certificate in accordance with the regulations,
▪ logistical information (flight elements, choice of back and forth shuttles, passport number),
▪ for the UTAT 105 km only: proof (s) matching the prerequisite (see Article 2).
The communication of these information and elements must be done only by using the on-line registration form. If, for exceptional technical reasons, this type of transmission was made impossible, the items may be sent electronically, by post, or by fax after having received the prior approval of the organization.
The deadlines for receipt of the elements are fixed at 15/09/2019 for the medical certificate,
After this deadline, any incomplete registration will entail its cancellation with impossibility to participate in the UTAT 2019 and without being the subject of any refund.
The list of UTAT 2019 entries shall be published on the website of the organization www.atlas-trail.com. It allows you to check the inclusion of your registration and mandatory elements.
ARTICLE 5 – INSURANCE - CANCELLATION GUARANTEE - RIGHT TO RETRACT
Civil Liability: In accordance with the law, the organizers have taken out an insurance covering the consequences of their civil liability, that of their employees and all the participants of the Ultra Trail Atlas Toubkal.
The competitors participate on their own responsibility in case of an accident or failure due to their state of health. Each competitor must be in possession of an individual accident insurance covering any search and evacuation costs in Morocco outside marked trails, as well as a repatriation in his/her country of origin. The organization of the UTAT has included in the commitment price insurance covering the following characteristics:
Cancellation Guarantee
The warranty entitles the reimbursement of the costs incurred for the registration (UTAT bib price excluding payment and registration fees) in one of the four races, or five events, in case a rider requests to cancel his entry due to one of the following events:
– an accident, a serious illness or the death of the rider himself,
– a serious illness requiring hospitalization,
– the death of a spouse or common-law partner, ascendants or descendants in the first degree, within 30 days of the event.
In case of accident or serious illness of the rider, it is necessary to provide a medical certificate signed and stamped by the doctor attesting the contraindication to participate in the race. Any other cause of cancellation must be justified by a signed and stamped certificate issued by the competent authority.
Conditions of compensation: any request for reimbursement must reach us, accompanied by the medical certificate, at the latest within 10 days following the event. Applications are processed within two months of receipt of the declaration.
Cancellation of registration
Any cancellation of registration must be made by e-mail ([email protected]) or by mail (Association Sports Nature Development – Ces Sci Avenue – 11 Avenue Jean Médecin- 06380 Sospel – France). No discontinuance is recorded by telephone.
In case of cancellation for a cause described in the first paragraph of the article, the competitor can operate his/her cancellation guarantee by sending us his/her cancellation letter the necessary supporting document (see first paragraph of the article).
If a competitor who has suscribed the cancellation insurance wishes to cancel his registration for a cause covered by this guarantee and declared in advance of the 30 days preceding the event, the refund of the fees paid for registration will be made by a total re-credit of the payment (Excluding payment fees by bank card or check) to the bank account associated with the bank card used or the check issued at the time of registration.
Right to retract
The Sports Nature Development Association, organizer of UTAT, is subject to French consumer law.
In accordance with Article L.121-17 and L.121-21-8 of the Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal giving the consumer a 14-day withdrawal period in the event of a change of mind when purchasing over the internet or by telephone is not opposable in the context of registration with the UTAT.
The Consumer Code indicates that the right of withdrawal can not be exercised for leisure activity contracts when the consumer is informed.
Article 6 : NATIONAL RESIDENTS
In order to facilitate UTAT’s participation of national residents, the organization proposes 4 types of registration reserved exclusively for people living on Moroccan territory and able to formally justify the reality. These specific services only apply to the Marathon de l’Atlas, the Virée d’Ikkiss and the Amarzigh Trail events which will take place respectively on 2019 October the 5th and 6th .
Definition of “National Residents”:
The term “national resident” means any person, irrespective of his/her nationality, who resides in Moroccan territory, holds a National Identity Card (CIN) or a residence permit “Carte d’immatriculation” valid on the day of registration. In the case of a proceeding for the production of one of these documents, the receipt issued by the competent authorities shall be accepted as proof of residence.
No other document (invoice, title deed …) will be accepted as proof of residence.
At the time of registration, the provision of the proof of residence is compulsory and must be placed in the online registration file by Sunday Spetember the 29th 2019.
In the absence of any supporting documents, the registration will be canceled.
Conditions of registration:
A certificate dated the current year and mentioning the no contra indication to the practice of running in competition or a valid license FRMA have to be provided or the specific UTAT certificate (to be downloaded from the UTAT site). The transmission of the medical certificate or the FRMA license is compulsory at the time of the electronic registration and the presentation of the original of the document is obligatory when the bib is withdrawn.
ARTICLE 7 – SUPPLY STATIONS
The principle of individual race in semi-self-sufficiency is the rule. Supply stations are tackled with drinks and food to be consumed on site.
- 26 km: 1 supply station (Amskere, km 16)
- 42 km: 2 well defined supply stations with water supply , sweet drinks and solid food (Timichi km 19,5 – Tacheddirt km 32).
- 105 km: 5 well defined supply stations with water supply, sweet drinks, salted and solid food (Timichi km 28 – Tamatert km38 * – Azib Likemt km 68 – Imlil km 88,5 – Amskere km 100). *Liquid only
No food supply outside the organization is permitted. Respect the environment by thinking of throwing your packaging in the bins made available on the food supply points and never on the trails under penalty of disqualification.
ARTICLE 8 – MANDATORY EQUIPMENT : 12, 26, 42,105 KM
The race is run in semi self-sufficiency.
Materials required for UTAT 105 km:
- Personal cup: 15 cl minimum
- water reserve: minimum 2 liters
- two lamps in good working condition with sufficient energy reserve for 2 nights
- survival coverage: 1.40 m x 2 m minimum
- whistle
- emergency kit: anti-diarrhea, paracetamol (2 g), antiseptic, medical compresses, adhesive elastic band for bandaging or straping (mini 80 cm x 3 cm), tablets for decontamination and water chemical disinfection (Micropur, Aquatabs, Hydroclonazone)
- food reserve: minimum 1500 kcal
acket and pants waterproof * (Gore-Tex type) and breathable to withstand bad weather in the mountains (snow, sleet,rain).

The rider must assess whether the qualities of his jacket meet the requirements of the regulation. In case of control, only the opinion of the controller or if necessary, the race commissioner will be retained.
- jacket or T-shirt type second warm layer (excluding cotton) with long sleeves 180g minimum adapted to the sex and the size of the participant
- pants or long running tights or composition of various elements that cover the entire leg (short tights + long socks)
- hat, cap or bandana
- warm and waterproof gloves
- the road book of the race
- personal ID
- mobile phone loaded with option allowing its use in Morocco (put in its directory the security number of the organization, do not hide its number)
▪ a minimum sum of 200 dirhams (about 20 €) to compensate for the unexpected

Materials required Atlas Marathon 42 km:
- Personal cup 15 cl
- Water reserve 1,5 liter
- Food reserve: minimum 800 kcal
- waterproof and breathable jacket and pants (Gore-Tex type — minimum recommended 10,000 Schmerber) to withstand bad weather in the mountains.
- jacket or T-shirt type second warm layer (excluding cotton) with long sleeves 180g minimum adapted to the sex and the size of the participant
- pants or long running tights or composition of various elements that cover the entire leg (short tights + long socks)
- hat, cap or bandana
- warm and waterproof gloves
- the road book of the race
- personal ID
- mobile phone loaded with option allowing its use in Morocco (put in its directory the security number of the organization, do not hide its number)

- personal cup: 15 cl minimum
- a lamp in good working order with sufficient energy reserve

- food reserve: minimum 500 kca
- waterproof jacket and pants * (Gore-Tex type) and breathable to withstand bad weather in the mountains.

The complete equipment will be checked on the course and / or finish for the first 3 of each event and randomly for the other riders. Any failure will result in a penalty.
Material required for Amarzigh Trail 12km
- adapted sportswear
- water reserve: minimum 0.5 liters

ARTICLE 9 – LOGISTICS
The competitors of the UTAT 105 km will be able to leave a bag containing their spare equipment in the departure area . Your name and bib number must be included. This bag will be sent to PC Imlil (2/3 of the race). This bag will then be returned to Oukaïmeden at the end of the event. No sticks in the bags. The organization declines all responsibility in case of loss, theft or deterioration of the goods and personal effects.
ARTICLE 10 – RANKING AND PRIZES
The call room shall open 20 minutes before the start of the races and close 5 minutes before the start. Should a runner not be checked at the entrance of the call room, he/she will not be ranked.
Ranking
All runners on the 42km will be ranked regardless they are registered on the Marathon de l’Atlas or the Challenge du Haut Atlas.
All runner on the 26km will be ranked regardless they are registered on La Virée d’Ikkiss or the Challenge du Haut Atlas.
The Challenge is an independent ranking.
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded for:
- The Atlas Marathon on Saturday October the 5th at 17h00
- The Virée d’Ikiss on Sunday October the 6th at 16h00
- The Challenge of the High Atlas on Sunday October the 6th at 18h00
- The Ultra Trail Atlas Toubkal on Sunday October the 6th at 18h00
Rewards for the first 3 in the scratch and the first 3 women.
Runners can be rewarded only for the competition they are registered for: A runner registered on Le Challenge du Haut Atlas shall not be rewarded on Le Marathon de l’Atlas nor on La Virée d’Ikkis
ARTICLE 11 – CONTROLS
Several checkpoints are established by the organization to ensure the regularity and safety of the event.
The controls are carried out by race marshals who are under the authority of the clerk of the course whose decision-making power is final.
ARTICLE 12 – CLAIMS
Claims are admissible within 2 hours after the arrival of the rider. They must be formulated in writing and handed to the race management, with the payment of a deposit of 40 €, which will be returned in case of a favorable decision.
ARTICLE 13 – MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND SAFETY
A medical team composed of doctors, nurses and rescuers will be present throughout the duration of the event and in several positions spread over the course. It is entitled to disqualify a competitor judged to be unfit or endangering his/her safety or that of others. The competitors authorize the medical service to take the necessary measures in the event of an accident. In case of retirement, the competitor must inform the nearest checkpoint or food supply station and return his/her bib number. He/she will be put “out of race”, bib number removed and authorized to leave the course on his/her own means and under his/her own responsibility. However, the organization will be able to assist and bring him/her back to the finish area.
The Royal Gendarmerie, the Royal Armed Forces and the Auxiliary Forces will be present on the course and on the starting area.
Physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropodists are present on the departure / arrival area and distributed on the course, to ensure massages. Access to cares and what they consist in is left to the caregivers in all places, particularly in relation to the number of demands and the nature of cares.
ARTICLE 14 – MEDIA
Media coverage is provided by television, radio, local, national and international press. The competitors authorize the organization to use their image for any support concerning the event for promotional purposes without compensation of any kind.
ARTICLE 15 – REGISTRATION FILE
In order to extend our ecological approach, documents relating to the race can be downloaded from www.atlas-trail.com. The payment will be made by a secure online payment in ssl format.
Nevertheless, on-site registration for residents of Morocco will be possible (limited places) for the 26k and 12k events, on Friday 04 and Saturday 05 October (from 15h00 to 17h00), on Sunday 06 October (before 08h30).
ARTICLE 16 – TIME LIMITS
The maximum time of the event, for the entire course, is set at:
UTAT 105 km: 40 hours
Time barriers:
- Takerkourte (km 34): Departure time + 08h00
- Boukchoud(km 46): Departure time + 15h00
- Azib Likemt (km 65): Departure time + 24h00
- Imlil (km 88,5): Departure time + 34h00
The Marathon de l’Atlas (42 km): 12 hours
Time barrier:
- Timichi (km 19.5): Departure time + 04h00
- Tacheddirt: Departure time + 09h00
The Virée d’Ikkiss(26 km): 7 hours
Time barrier: Amskere: Departure time + 05h00
Amazigh Trail (12 km): 5 hours (the event is open to hikers)
The departure times (time barriers) of the main checkpoints will be recalled during the race briefing and communicated in the journey log.
These time barriers are calculated to allow participants to join the finish in the maximum time imposed, while making possible stops (rest, meals, care …). To be allowed to continue the event, competitors must leave the checkpoint before the deadline (regardless of the time of arrival at the checkpoint) and without a contraindication issued by the medical team. ‘organization.
Any competitor put out of the race and wanting to continue his course will be able to carry it out only after having restored his bib, under its own responsibility and in complete autonomy.
In case of bad weather conditions and / or for security reasons, the organization reserves the right to cancel, modify, stop the current event or change the time barriers.
ARTICLE 17 – PENALTIES
Failure to observe the following will result in disqualification of the competitor:
▪ Not wearing compulsory equipment.
▪ External assistance of any kind.
▪ Failure to respect the route and checkpoints. According to the appreciation of the controller or race commissioner, this point may result in the sole application of a penalty defined by the race director (from 15 minutes to 2 hours)
▪ Non-respect of the environment (throwing bottle, paper …)
▪ Endangering your own safety, that of others or not assisting a competitor.
▪ Notice of medical service.
The organizers draw the attention of the competitors to respect the environment, volunteers and local people, especially their habits and customs.
ARTICLE 18 – INTERDICTION
Any outside help outside the refueling areas and subject to the approval of the postmaster is prohibited. The use of bicycles, mules, wheeled and / or motorized vehicles is strictly forbidden to the riders during the course of the tests.
ARTICLE 19 – RACE TIMING
Race timing will be carried out by a timing software; runners must get checked (with a pointing obligation (manual pointing and / or electronic racquet) at each check point. (PC)
ARTICLE 20 – CANCELLATION
The organization reserves the right to cancel the event in case of force majeure, or if the minimum number of registered riders (300) is not reached by 31 July 2019.
ARTICLE 21 – SUBSTITUTION
The organization commits to do everything possible to propose a substitute course in the event of a force majeure occurrence on the initial route, of potentially dangerous meteorological uncertainty or for any other reason which would not allow it to ensure a sufficient level of safety.
ARTICLE 22 - PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA - GDPR
The organization undertakes to use participants’ personal data only for purposes strictly related to the competition in which they are registered (logistics, security, communication prior to the event, satisfaction questionnaire after event).
When you register, from the Njuko @ online form, a selection button allows the participant to request the anonymization of their data. The request can be made at any time. Once this option is activated, all personal data (surname, first name, address, phone, date of birth, medical certificate) will no longer be available 60 days after the event, prohibiting any access to these items by our organization, such as through the Njuko @ online registration platform (fields filled in will be replaced by “xxx”).
ARTICLE 23 – ACCEPTING THE RULES
Any competitor acknowledges having read these rules and accepting all the clauses. He/she commits him/herself on the honor not to anticipate the departure and to travel the complete distance before crossing the finish line.
