Dear friends,
The “One basket for one family” was closed last July 1st. 6450€ have been harvested and allowed to buy 218 basic food baskets.
The ingredients were purchased from an independent wholesaler and the baskets made up in Marrakech by young Moroccan volunteers from UTAT.
We had to choose which villages to bring them to, which was ultimately the most difficult aspect of this operation.
The main criterion was to serve the most isolated villages and whose resources are usually the most linked to tourist activity.
The choice therefore fell on Iabassen (30 families, located approximately at km 20 of UTAT - km 25 of the Atlas Marathon …), Amenzel (45 families, located at km 45 of UTAT 105 .) and Agouns (115 families, located km 14 of the Atlas Marathon). The remaining 28 baskets were given to the muleteers and other contributors in the field who made up the very complex logistics in these times of health crisis.
It’s Brahim Idali Bassen, native of the High Atlas, mountain guide and great friend of UTAT (First Berber to run UTAT 5 times finisher - Winner of the Atlas Challenge in 2010 UTAT - Responsible for bivouac runners - Swiss Army Knife of UTAT), which was responsible for organizing and carrying out the transport to these 3 villages.
Admittedly this is only a boost because the borders are still not open and the flow of tourists still nonexistent but for the families concerned it was a concrete, useful and appreciated help (it even seems that it was the most beautiful and consistent baskets never distributed in the Atlas!).
We refused to make a photo report of the distribution, but spontaneously some recipients of your donations sent us photos as a thank you.

The Banque Marocaine pour le Commerce et l’Industrie (Moroccan bank for trade and industry) enabled a prolongation of the operation by foundind a national communication campaign. We thank them for that.
